Interpol’s Paul Banks is Julian Plenti

Tired of the wait between Interpol albums? Have a hankering for some bewildering rhyme schemes? Want to see Paul Banks sport a moustache? Well, then the Julian Plenti record slated for release on Matador’s roster for August should sate all your needs. Interpol’s frontman has managed to slip into the studio to record his first solo record in the midst of work on his band’s fourth long player. Banks’ solo outing will be under the guise of Julian Plenti, a name he’s used for years according to Billboard. Some of the songs have been kicking around for a decade, despite just being put to tape for the first time. Interpol fans will not be surprised to hear that the record, entitled Skyscraper, has a “cocky, sexy”  feel. You can hear samples of the tunes over at julianplenti.com. [via Stereogum]
