I’ve had a love/hate relationship with The Faint for the better part of a decade. Blank Wave Arcade was awesome. Danse Macabre, eh, not so much. And Wet from Birth had its moments (I must admit I played the mother eff out of “I Disappear”). So, it is with both trepidation and anticipation that I listen to Fasciinatiion, the not-very-prolific band’s 5th long-player in twice as many years. It’s streaming in full on The Faint’s MySpace page. It sounds very Kraftwerk-ian in my skim-through listen, infused with the requisite amount of frustrated white-boy sexual dance-funk and expected grand mal mots. Guilty pleasure, certainly. Recommended, unsure.
