Portishead names third record, stares blankly, then yawns

While I’m somewhat excited about the new Portishead record news (it’s almost too little too late), I can’t help but be annoyed by the projected album title, Third. Seriously? Almost eleven years have gone by and that’s the title you come up with? It just seems so frustratingly uncreative and decidedly coy. I know having to apply titles to things can be tiring, but how hard is it to be a little more aloof than that? Even Led Zeppelin came around after its numerological series started to wear thin. Makes you wonder if the title is that meh, what’s the music going to sound like? All I know is that Beth Gibbons’ solo record was complete ass, but nostalgia has a clever way of covering up the blemishes.

Are you insane? “Complete ass”?! Out Of Season is one of the best albums of the decade! How much time have you spent listening to it? I’m shocked!
