Blender’s lists always need to be taken with an extra grain of salt, but this one sort of semi-accurately collects a handful of the some of the worst offenders. The order just seems a bit jumbled. I mean Sting certainly has over-stepped the bounds of pretentiousness on more than one occasion (name-dropping Nabokov was bad enough, but mispronouncing it was unforgivable), but worst lyricist of all time? No way. Number-one-with-a-bullet for me would have to be Alanis Morissette for her egregious misappropriation of the word ironic. The fact that the song of the same name actually became a hit speaks to levels of illiteracy in our country I’m just not willing to face. She almost made up for with her turn as a brow-beating lesbian on Nip/Tuck last season, though. Also, Anothony Keidis should be number two.
