Led Zeppelin reunion on again, maybe, off again, probably

led6 It’s kind of amazing the attention this alleged Led Zeppelin one-off reunion show is getting, considering the latest source is a fan that bumped into Robert Plant on the street!?! Well, ok. And the buzz is growing, but will fans really “stampede” for tickets to see the most insanely decadent rock and roll band of all time propped up on stage with oxygen tanks and canes? That may be overstating it a bit, but Jimmy Page is 63. Can he honestly reel off riffs as complicated as the bulk of Led Zeppelin’s catalog with the same speed and finesse? Can Robert Plant hit those grizzled squeals like he used to? John Bonham sure as hell can’t drum like he used to all dead and shit. It just seems like an invitation to be let down. But some people claim, if you aren’t excited by this news, then you don’t like rock. I don’t know. I think I prefer to remember Led Zeppelin as the powerhouse it once was. This is way too little way too late.

Greatest rock band in history, bar none. Sadly, Led Zeppelin ceased to exist the second that John Bonham died in 1980. The unique Zep chemistry was possible only with those four musicians.

All valid points, pops. But what gets me most is the sheer size of Robert Plant’s head these days. I mean, it just keeps growing. It’s huge. It’s got its own weather system.

Oh, and where’s the love for John Paul Jones? I bet if there’s one cat who’d still be able to represent, it’d be him.

true. jones can still hold his own, probably better than any of them at this point. i also agree that led zeppelin ceased to exist the moment john bonham died. anything else could never even remotely be the same.

Billboard says there’s a press conference scheduled for next week that should “clear everything up.”

They also allude to Led Zeppelin’s site where the date 11.13.2007 is posted. Maybe they’re excited about the new Wu joint.
