It’s quite possible Andy wrote the aforementioned Skin Trade and Notorious but was never credited. Perhaps we’ll never know.

They were two SEPARATE thoughts. I wasn’t crediting him with them.

I saw Andy perform these songs live and he played every chord as if he had written them. Perhaps he’s a loose cannon but I give him credit for performing 110% — even songs that weren’t “his.”

Andy did the right thing in ditching DD after the new record changed direction. Timbaland? JT? Are you kidding. Does every song Timba produce have to have a haunting human yelp in it?

JT had way too much influence over the record. He literally said to DD, “where is the next Ordinary World?” Well, this record doesn’t have it. Even Astronaut had more OW-like potential hits — “Nice”…”Tomorrow” … “Sunrise” Maybe these tunes are sugar-coated but at least they have some creativity. Falling Down? Dull and redundant.

Without Andy, DD loses all its cred. The Ordinary World hook. It doesn’t get better than that. Skin Trade? A gem. Notorious. A funk classic.

RCM may be club ready, but DD has lost its magic thanks to interference from two guys who know a little bit about programming drum beats.

Let’s face it, the new album is the weakest they have ever made, that’s why the general public have turned away in drove.
They need to get back Andy Taylor (again)FAST!

Thing is guys – it makes no difference what you think. If the album isn’t a hit – and it won’t be, because if they couldn’t sell a decent amount of Astronaut with all the buzz of the original five, then this won’t sell anything either – then Sony will dump them.

This is the last chance for Duran Duran.

They should’ve never gone with Sony – they always have to pretend they’re big stars, but outside the USA, who they favour more than any other country, they are also rans.

If years ago they had treated the whole world as they’ve treated the USA they would’ve been more kindly looked on musically, but the USA was always their one and only, and they have to bear the consequences.

Any band who can rid themselves of not one but two fantastic guitarists, is not interested in the music, but only in the fame and the money.

I have been a “TRUE DURANIE” since I was a young one, and continue to be through my years of growing wisdom. I am very happy with the released single of “FALLING DOWN”, but wish it would get more radio play. I believe it was a safe move for their first single from “RED CARPET MASSACRE” and it is a song that truly grows on you the more it is listened to. As for “RED CARPET MASSACRE” as a whole, a new realm of DURAN DURAN has been generated from their earlier releases. The incorporation of Justin Timberlake and Timbaland on a few of the tracks gives the album a twist of newly learned “FUNK WISDOM” mixed with “DURANIE WISDOM” of the past. In my opinon, the overall CD is something well worth listening too!

I download the video from YouTube 6.58 min long but cant understand the first part of the video where the guy and his girlfriend are in the car, before she got off to the house..
If someone could kindly write me the words and also his/her opinion of the music video because i have no idea of it. Why is the house full of women and what does she do there? And when she goes out??

Night Runner was a much better choice. Better as a single and better for the club remixes. I was so excited when I learned it would be the first single. They changed it and now it’s this other song. What is it called? I can’t remember because it’s not very memorable.

I went back and looked at other first releases off of a DD albums and this one is the only one I have no opionion of. At least Violence of Summer made you love it or hate it. This song is just ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I think they should have picked more up-lifting track for their first single. I just don’t think that Falling Down (FD) will get to the top 10. The song and video that comes with it are too depressing, and I don’t think people want to hear another gossip/satire about stupid Hollywood train wrecks from an 80s veteran pop band (that’s kind of making them look silly not wise). We have ET or any other Hollywood gossip channels to do this. Also, I donâ€™t buy the concept of flirting with models of half their age. Thatâ€™s making them look old and more like Hue Hefner. It worked in Girl-On-Film (GOF) when they were 20 something, but not any more. A ballad and the GOF like visual just donâ€™t go together. I would have preferred Night Runner or Skin Diver much better for their first single. Listening to FD, I don’t get the same warm fuzzy feeling as when I first heard Sunrise. The record level might have thought that FD may be a hit like Ordinary World (OW). But without a sparkling guitar riff (as in OW) and more up-lifting theme, I’m afraid it will be falling down…
