Interpol vs. Editors

Posted June 25th, 2007 by eric

I can understand hating a band. I hate plenty (hello Wilco, hello Flaming Lips). So, NME writer Mark Beaumont slags off Interpol with some pretty harsh words in a recent piece. Slagging off Interpol in and of itself is not a big deal. So Beaumont hates Interpol…who cares? But here’s the kicker: He loves Editors. Hahahaha. Editors, for God’s sake! A band that sounds like watered-down…Interpol! So, all of Beaumont’s credibility immediately goes flying out the window. The balls this guy has to trash Interpol while inundating Editors with ingratiating praise speaks to such a hilarious level of irony I can barely process it. Editors jumped onto the doom rock bandwagon so late in the game barely anyone can take them seriously. And this guy thinks they’re the next Interpol Muse or something. Hilarious.

I don’t know that Editors can ever rival the presence and just unmistakeable cool that Interpol seem to be made of. And that translates directly into their music. Interpol are just superior. I like Editors a lot too though, no disrespect to them.

Editors aint got shit on Interpol!!! That writer Mark Beaumont is without a doubt, a complete and utter cunt. Clearly not up to date with his music and doesn’t deserve that job i’d say.
This is like saying you love Interpol but despise Joy Division.
Interpol are definitely not a rip off of JD, but thier music definitely goes in the same catagory.
As for Editors, they might not be high-jacking interpols shit, but they are DEFINITELY NOT, IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM BETTER..
