Update: Joy Division trainers almost set for production

Posted June 6th, 2007 by eric

Turns out this very bizarre marketing strategy is becoming a reality because, you know, sporty footwear and Joy Division go hand in hand. New Balance plans to produce a line of Joy Division trainers with the artwork from its debut album Unknown Pleasures adorning the sole. They will be embossed with a Fact 10 logo on the tongue, representing Unkown Pleasures’ catalog number from Tony Wilson’s Factory Records. The sneakers will be released to coincide with Anton Corbijn’s Joy Division biopic, Control, which is due out this fall. Manufacturing is not yet set in stone, as New Balance is awaiting final clearance on the shoe designed by American artist Dylan Adair.
