Echo & The Bunnymen resigns with Korova/Warner Bros.

Resigning with the label that put out all the classics, Echo & The Bunnymen “are chuffed to bits about returning to our old roots…it’s fantastic to be working on the album having just resigned to ‘Korova / Warners’; the new album is going to be amazing, and we can’t wait to get it finished.”

Even though the band is at 50% capacity with drummer Pete DeFreitas having died in a mototcycle accident in 1989 and bassist Les Pattison having left after 1997’s reunited effort, Evergreen, vocalist Ian McCulloch and guitarist Will Sergeant continue to record under the famed moniker almost 30 years after originally forming.

The band’s post-reunion output has been respectably decent, avoiding the typical reunion routine of legacy-sullying albums and gushing nostalgia. Its most recent release is an updated version of the 1985 compilation Songs to Learn and Sing called More Songs to Learn and Sing, which is available as an expanded 20-track disc and dvd set.
