Go see Battles live!

Battles completely destroyed Local 506 in Chapel Hill, NC Saturday night. If this show was any indication, the new record, Mirrored (due May 15th), is going to be amazing.

John Stanier (Tomahawk, ex-Helmet) on the drums is a fucking machine. Playing to all those loops is pretty much like playing to a metronome for 90 minutes, and he absolutely kills it.

The band has reworked much of the material off its B and C EP’s for the live show to incorporate more live pattern-building.

The 12″ of the first single, “Atlas”, will be available on April 2nd via Warp.

Remaining US tour dates:

03/27/2007 @ Birmingham, AL – Bottletree

03/28/2007 @ Lexington, KY – The Dame

03/29/2007 @ Cleveland Heights, OH – Grog Shop

03/30/2007 @ Chicago, IL – Empty Bottle

03/31/2007 @ Pittsburgh, PN – Gooski’s

04/01/2007 @ Toronto, Ontario – Lee’s Palace

04/02/2007 @ Buffalo, New York – Soundlab

04/04/2007 @ Montreal, Quebec – La Sala Rossa

04/05/2007 @ Boston, MA – Great Scott

I wonder if Damon Che feels like a douchebag for ruining the Don Caballero name, as Ian Williams continues to amaze.
